I started singing quite late. I am a late bloomer in most everything. As the
daughter of an orchestra musician, I got the usual education: dancing classes,
piano lessons, ballet. As a teenager, I taught myself to play guitar with an old
six-string. Church choir, school choir.
First stage experiences at the age of five in Deutschland Halle, where my
dancing school was part of the intermission program at the world ballroom dance
championship. As a teenager, I discovered the cultural program of the U.S. Army
and performed in numerous shows and musicals. One time even as a basketball
playing nun...
I always thought that there is a voice somewhere deep inside of me. At the age
of 27, I finally worked up the courage to answer an ad for a background singer.
I was a few years with "Face to Face" (Joe Cocker Tribute) and other cover bands.
I dabbled in song writing for the first time with "Beauty Free" and later on with
"INDEX". I co-wrote a few songs with Lenard Streicher (available on Amazon).
:: My vocal heroes: Jon Bon Jovi, Bette Midler, Janis Joplin, Johnny
Diesel
:: Favourite bands: Lynyrd Skynyrd, U2, Mothers Finest, The Hooters,
Coldplay
:: My creative idols: Neil Young, Johnny Diesel, Selah Sue, Balbina,
Bruce Springsteen
My lyrics deal with subjects that occupy my thoughts. They range from personal
experiences (Now you see me, In dem Moment) to current issues of the world or
critical views of society (Not my Life).
Kalle Herm
His musical start was unspectacular at the tender age of 19 when he taught himself
to play the guitar. In 1980, he founded his band "Pankower" in former East Berlin,
where he sang and played the guitar.
Together with his former band, he managed to pass the so-called classification
events of the officially appointed boards with flying colors. They were, therefore,
allowed to perform in and around Berlin. After that, he took an extended break
– without losing sight of the music scene completely though.
His true ambition has always been to provide the low frequencies and set the rhythm
for a band. And that is exactly what he put into practice ... a bit late, but
better late than...
Since 2010, Kalle has been part of different band projects in Berlin. The genres
ranged from blues rock to heavy rock with everything in between. His all-time
favourites are still the old rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Queen, UFO and Pink Floyd.
Kalle likes honest people, good food and nature. He does not like schemers
and animal tormenters.
Because of his natural modesty, nothing else comes to mind right now.

It was on a ski trip in 1984 when I heard my cousin play the intro of Purple Rain
as if it were nothing. I thought: “What? That’s possible? Just like that?”
Until then, I had always thought that the things our idols do on stage are
mystifyingly magical. And it was a little bit like that: If you bought an expensive
Rolling Stones songbook back then from “Bote und Bock”, you were in for a
disappointment. It was nearly impossible to figure out what Ron and Keith were
playing with what you found in those books. Just notes and a few chord symbols
for campsite playing. There was no YouTube and Internet yet.
So I had my cousin show me how to play Purple Rain and realized that I too could
learn that. And that is how I discovered my love for electrical guitars. Next
to tracks of the Stones or the Police, Hendrix was also mandatory.
I played with student bands and a few cover bands that fell apart before they
even got started. Diva-like singers, drummers that never showed up for practice
without any explanation, guitarists who were chronically too loud – there was
a bit of everything.
And besides, I noticed that covering songs left me wanting. When sequencers came
on the scene, I was part of it with my Atari from day one. Finally creating my
very own music. Fiddling at home in front of the computer doesn't really cut
it in the long run though. Working on the PC has always been more constructing
music than making music to me.
There was still that yearning to play in a band. With the Indigo Juveniles, I
had the feeling of having found like-minded musicians for the first time.

No, I am not Italian! The name is simply an Italian translation of my German
nickname. It fits, actually. But I did not like it so much in German. This
way, it sounds like old Italian aristocracy.
My musical career started in my parents’ house where we already as children
gave concerts with the neighbours. My parents supported us in almost every musical
ambition. It still makes me happy just thinking of that time.
Many of my tunes have a melody but most of them do not have lyrics. Until now
I still wonder, what is so important the world needs to know. One day, I will know
and then there will be lyrics from me as well ...
Until now, I have played with many different bands including "Champagne on Ice",
"Nexus", "INDEX". The most successful period was during the five years with
"Veleno Dolceamaro". Back then, people on the street recognized me already.
After that, I spent two years with "A l'infini".
A band, run with dedication, is a kind of love relation, only with more than one
partner. There is the first inflatuation, there are arguments and finally there
is a phase, after long time and hard work when a band reaches its targets, where
they wanted to be in the first place. However, most bands are already split up
at that moment.
"Indigo Juveniles" is my first own project. So far, I have a good feeling...
